Biography for Mahmoud Khalil Al-Husari
Sheikh Mahmoud khalil Husari is a renowned reciter of the holy Quran. Born in the village of Shobra Al Namla in Tanta, Egypt Sheikh Husari entered Quran school at the age of 4 and had memorized the whole Quran by the age of eight . At 12 years old Sheikh Husari went on to the Islamic Institution of Al-Azhar university where he learnt the 10 Qira’at of the holy Quran.
At 25 the sheikh returned to his birth village to establish himself as a reciter. He became a reciter at the famous Ahmadi mosque there. However by 1948 he moved to Cairo was elected Mu’addin of the Sidi Hamza Mosque and then a reciter there and was also the supervisor of the Al-Gharbia province for the recitation centers.
Imam Husari became a well known religious scholar. In 1962, he appointed Deputy Chairman of the Audit Committee and the Quran and was also known as Shaykh al-Maqâri (Scholar of the Reciters). Sheikh Husari also visited all Islamic countries and many non-Islamic cities, however, he passed away on the 24th of November 1980 immediately after the Isha prayer. (May allah bless him)
